Dr. Alkali Y. Baba joined the services of Federal University of Technology, Minna, Nigeria in 2005 as Assistant Lecturer and rose to the rank of an Associate Professor of stratigraphy and micropaleontology in the Department of Geology in 2021. Completed his PhD in Geology (Biostratigraphy option) in 2013 from the same University. Authored and co-authored over 30 publications in both local and international journals. Successfully supervised several undergraduate students, 3 MTech students and as internal examiner to several MTech candidates. 4 completed PhD students and 2 ongoing MTech students. A beneficiary of an advanced seismic interpretation training using OpendTect and plugins by Danvic concepts international. Alkali has attended several other trainings workshops on academic level advisership, instructional leadership actions, research grant proposal writings and geosciences workshops within and outside the university.  Alkali was the departmental examination officer between 2012 -2015, Assistant Examination Officer for the  School of Physical Sciences (SPS), 2015-2017, Deputy Dean, SPS,2018 and Head of the Department of Geology, Federal University of Technology, Minna, Nigeria between 2018 and 2022.  He also served several committees including the following in the Department of Geology: Committee on New Academic Brief, Course Content on Sequence Stratigraphy and Development of Postgraduate Curriculum on Petroleum Geosciences. Chairman, Departmental CCMAS Committee, Disciplinary committee. My primary research interest includes aspects of Palaeontology, Stratigraphy, Sedimentology, Paleoclimatology, Paleobiogeography and Sequence Stratigraphy.  Alkali is an active member of the Nigerian Mining and Geosciences Society (NMGS) and Council of Mining Engineers and Geoscientist (COMEG) registered.

My primary research interest includes aspects of Palaeontology, Stratigraphy, Sedimentology,Paleoclimatology, Paleobiogeography and Sequence Stratigraphy
