Research Area

My research area is in the aspects of Environmental Microbiology, Bioproducts Development and Applied Microbiology. Some of my recent research include

  • biocalcification of concretes using bacterial products
  • bioconversion of plastic waste to polyhydroxyalkanoates (PHAs) using engineered bacteria
  • bioremediation, phycoremediation and phytoremediation of contaminated soil, water and wastewater
  • detection and biosorption of heavy metals in soil and water
  • microbial conversion of agrowastes for methionine, lactic acid, PHA, and citric acid production
  • development of microbial-flocculants for water purification
  • inhibition of dissimilatory sulphite reductase in SRB for corrosion prevention
