Dr. Shaba Elijah Yanda hails from PatiShaba Kolo in Lavun Local Government Area, Niger State.

He graduated with a Second Class Upper degree in Industrial Chemistry from the Federal University of Technology, Minna (FUTMinna) 2010. He obtained his Master’s in Analytical Chemistry in 2014 and later earned his PhD in Analytical Chemistry from the same institution in 2023. Driven by his passion for teaching and impacting values in the teeming population of youths, Dr. Shaba accepted a Graduate Assistant position in the Department of Chemistry, Federal University of Technology, Minna, in 2012.

As a researcher with a strong passion for problem-oriented research aimed at solving societal challenges through chemistry, Dr. Shaba has published most of his research outputs in journal articles, conference proceedings, and textbook chapters. In recognition of his exceptional academic achievements, Dr. Shaba was honoured with the prestigious Best Ph.D. Thesis Award from the Federal University of Technology, Minna, in 2024. This award is one of the highest recognitions for doctoral candidates, underscoring the originality, significance, and scholarly excellence of his dissertation. Additionally, Dr. Shaba has received various Awards of Excellence from FUTMinna, particularly for his numerous publications in Q1 journals. He has also secured TETFundIBR research grants, further showcasing his commitment to impactful research.

Dr. Shabas research focuses on the design and synthesis of nanoparticles and nanocomposites for wastewater treatment. He has served extensively within the university in various capacities, including 500 Level Adviser, Departmental Transcript Officer, Departmental Turnitin Officer, Departmental Assistant Examination Officer, Departmental Examination Officer, Member, School of Physical Sciences Biannual Conference Committee, School of Physical Sciences Timetable Officer, Assistant Officer, School of Physical Sciences. Outside the university, he contributed as a member of the Local Organizing Committee for the 36th Annual International Conference of the Chemical Society of Nigeria in 2013.

As a distinguished academic, Dr. Shaba serves as a reviewer for several reputable journals and a technical committee member for various international conferences. He is also an active member of the Chemical Society of Nigeria.
