Abdullahi Abdulwahab is an Alumnus of Federal University of Technology Minna, Niger State. He is an Agricultural Extension, Rural Development and Communication technologies specialist. He is also the recipient of several awards of excellence, including the award for the Overall best graduating Student of the University, Best graduating B.Tech. Student of the University, Best graduating Student in School of Agriculture & Agricultural Technology, Best graduating Student in Department of Agricultural Economics and Extension Technology and AGAR Award of excellence FUT Minna, 2015.
My aim is to gain advanced knowledge in Agriculture and Rural Development and to enhance my ability and capability to proffer solutions to the challenges facing Agriculture and rural communities in Nigeria. To achieve this objective, Lecturing/Teaching profession helps in honing my research skills through collaboration with both local and international colleagues and organisations that has the potential of exposing me to a vast alumni research network. Hence, I initiated my own research group in collaboration with some colleagues that have the ability to use statistical packages such as STATA, SPSS and Microsoft Excel and also carry out Field survey using Questionnaire and interviews to further arrived at some solutions bordering food security and sustainable agriculture under different scenarios, and exploit some soil conservation practices, as well as develop new ways to train farmers and develop new, effective and cheap agricultural innovations for easy adoption.
Further, I am open to partnering with international organisations such as the World Bank and research institutes to develop and promote the use of new innovations, technology and machinery for agricultural activities. Similarly, I am open to working with programme designers, policy makers and extension workers from the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (FMARD) for easy transfer of improved technologies, and agencies such as the Niger state Agricultural and Mechanization development authority (NAMDA), to guide them in their choice of method of teaching and technology transfer.
